We’re on the lookout for an RYA Senior Instructor at our not-for-profit watersports centre in Portsmouth.
Work with the Portsmouth team to deliver on the water and landbased sessions for our wide range of participants delivering RYA Courses according to your qualifications as well as various other activities and programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support with all aspects of the delivery programme
- Delivery of RYA Courses in the National and Youth dinghy, keelboat and powerboat schemes
- Delivery of a wide variety of charitable programmes to local communities and organisations
- Delivery of shorebased courses and activities
- Assist with the management of the team of instructors and work with the Chief Instructor to train and develop them
- Work to maintain and repair the fleet of dinghies, keelboats, powerboat and other operational resources where needed
Wider Responsibilities:
- Assist with operational paperwork, administration and general customer service duties where required
- Support the Centre management team with maintaining and developing the centre including good use of resources, good management of budgets, new and innovative developments to increase bookings and / or improve the quality of what we offer
- Other duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the Centre
Skills, experience and qualifications:
- Current RYA Senior Instructor – essential
- Passion for working with a wide variety of groups and to enable inclusivity – essential
- Hands‑on, flexible and proactive approach – essential
- RYA Powerboat Instructor – desirable
- RYA Windsurf Instructor – desirable
- RYA Keelboat / Multihull / Racing / Advanced endorsements – desirable
- Other watersports or activities experience or qualifications (eg paddlesports / archery / climbing) – desirable
- Experience in youth or charity setting – desirable
- Experience in working with young people with SEND or individuals with additional needs – desirable
