Home Care Assistant – Thirsk

At Radfield Home Care York, Thirsk & Ryedale, we’re a family‑run, award‑winning home care provider rated Outstanding by the CQC. We’re looking for kind, caring, and dependable individuals to join our friendly team and help older people live independently in their own homes.

Responsibilities

As a Care Assistant, you’ll provide one‑to‑one, person‑centred care for older adults in their homes. Your day will include:

• Supporting clients to enjoy outings, such as afternoon tea at M&S café or a trip to Whitby for fish and chips
• Helping with personal care and daily routines
• Providing medication support
• Assisting with mobility needs, including safe manual handling, movement, and transfers
• Carrying shopping or household items when needed
• Kneeling or supporting yourself in low positions when assisting clients
• Helping with errands, attending appointments, and community activities
• Helping with cooking and cleaning
• Promoting independence, dignity, and comfort in every visit

Compensation and Benefits

• £13.75 per hour on weekdays
• £14.75 per hour on weekends
• Paid travel time between visits (£13.75 per hour)
• Mileage allowance: 45p per mile
• Morning shifts from 7 am, evening shifts until 10 pm, including alternate weekends
• Full, paid training provided – no experience needed

Requirements

• A kind, caring, and reliable nature
• A full UK driving licence and access to a car
• Willingness to travel locally across York and surrounding villages
