Job Overview

We are working with a specialist school in Swindon that requires a number of Literacy Support Assistants (LSAs) to support primary‑age pupils. The roles involve working with children who have SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) needs, challenging behaviour and additional learning disabilities. You will work with individuals or small groups of children and young people, providing support to access their learning as well as their social interactions.

Working Hours and Start Date

Full‑time school hours, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm with a 30‑minute break. Immediate start. Pay is competitive.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils to access their learning in small group and individual settings.
  • Assist with social interactions and support pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to meet the academic and personal needs of each student.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, including those with challenging behaviour and SEMH.
  • Strong desire to work with children and young people to achieve the best outcomes for each individual.
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure.

Requirements

You must be suitably qualified for the position advertised and be prepared to attend a face‑to‑face interview to demonstrate your suitability for this role. You will also need to provide an up‑to‑date DBS check or be prepared to allow Axcis to process one on your behalf, and undergo other mandatory compliance checks in line with DfE guidelines.
