Job Description:

Salary: £18,717 – £21,228 (pro rata) 25 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks), pay Grade 9 (Scale Points 19‑25).

We are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic and hardworking HLTA to support SEN pupils across the school, facilitate groups, and deliver whole‑class lessons. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the Principal TA, supporting the SENCO and leading meetings with parents and professionals where required.

Responsibilities

  • Support SEN pupils in groups and whole‑class teaching.
  • Work with the Principal TA to support the SENCO.
  • Lead meetings with parents and professionals.
  • Inspire and motivate pupils to reach their best.
  • Deliver high‑quality learning experiences for all pupils.
  • Maintain high expectations of learning and behaviour.
  • Build sound, strong relationships with pupils.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, staff and pupils.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Be flexible and experienced across all primary ages, especially KS1 (ages 4‑7).
  • Work independently and with initiative.
  • Lead whole classes and intervention groups.

Qualifications

  • HLTA status achieved through an accredited provider.
  • Minimum GCSE C in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Ability to use ICT effectively to support learning.
  • Professional discretion and respect for confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to clarify and explain instructions.
  • Experience working in a classroom environment, particularly KS1.

Other Requirements

The successful candidate will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and a right to work in the UK.

Benefits and Notes

The pro‑rate salary shown includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements. The annual salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if the role is left part‑way through the school year to ensure the correct salary for the work completed.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.
