X4 Learning Support Assistant (SEND) – Grade 6
Salary (per annum): £28,142 – £31,022 pro rata.
Position: Permanent, full‑time – 37 hours per week (08:30 am to 04:30 pm).
Location: Walworth Primary School, Newton Aycliffe, Durham.
Start date: To be confirmed.
Responsibilities
The role involves providing targeted support to SEND pupils within the school setting. This includes working individually and in groups, supporting classroom activities, and contributing to the overall learning environment.

- Experience supporting SEND pupils.
- Experience working with individual and group children in classroom settings.
- Enthusiastic, dedicated, and committed to the role and the school community.
- High expectations and a drive to succeed.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent behaviour‑management skills.
- Highly organised with effective time‑management.
- Good English and mathematics skills.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Additional Requirements
Applicants must be able to converse at ease in accurate spoken English. An enhanced disclosure DBS check is required. Applicants with disabilities will be invited for interview if essential job criteria are met.
Salary and Pay Details
Term‑time pay plus two additional weeks’ pay is calculated with the following day counts:
- Teaching weeks: 38
- Public (bank) holidays: 1.6 weeks (8 days)
- Additional weeks: 2 (incl. CPD)
- Annual leave: 27 days for less than 5 years of service, 32 days for 5+ years.
Pay is distributed in 12 equal monthly instalments.
