HS MATH TEACHER – KINGSLAND SCHOOL – KINGSLAND TEXAS

Job Title: HIGH SCHOOL MATH TEACHER

Reports To: PRINCIPAL

FLSA Status: EXEMPT POSITION

Salary Range: $52,000‑$61,081 ANNUALLY

Work Days: 187 B

Location: KINGSLAND SCHOOL – KINGSLAND TEXAS

Stipends: $2000 MATH & $2000 TITLE 1

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively monitor students during instructional time.
  • Evaluate students’ needs and develop and implement individualized strategies.
  • Review and score assignments that require teacher review; reassign quizzes, assignments, or tests timely.
  • Re‑teach assignments and provide individual assistance as needed.
  • Monitor adherence to daily schedule and supervise students during breaks.
  • Initiate and participate in conferences with students and/or parents when necessary.
  • Record attendance accurately and timely each period.
  • Support and implement classroom procedures adopted by campus.
  • Utilize effective positive behavior support strategies and implement classroom management with a positive attitude.
  • Follow the established discipline sequence; manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
  • Assist in monitoring students and creating a safe campus environment by reporting duty assignments as assigned by the principal.
  • Participate in continuing professional development and relevant ARD meetings.
  • Compile, maintain, and submit required reports, records, and other documents.
  • Protect confidentiality of students and their families.
  • Participate in performance‑improvement activities and support the mission and vision of the campus and district.
  • Adhere to campus and district policies, procedures, and chain of command.
  • Respond positively to supervision and demonstrate an open, flexible teaching personality.
  • Offer assistance proactively; take initiative when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate positive thinking, enthusiasm, dedication, and energy toward responsibilities.
  • Create an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward co‑workers, demonstrate good judgment, and exhibit regular, on‑time attendance.
  • Comply with federal and state laws, including State Board of Education and local Board policies.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED

Knowledge of:

  • Principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instructing students in the assigned subject and grade level.
  • Developing curriculum and integrating technology into daily instruction.

Ability to:

  • Design, develop, and implement subject‑area curriculum based on best practices.
  • Provide effective and innovative learning experiences for students at a college‑preparatory level.
  • Create an attractive, inviting, and stimulating learning environment and develop positive relationships with students.

Experience:

  • Successful completion of student teaching at a recognized college or university, or other applicable field/volunteer work.

Education:

  • Four‑year accredited college/university degree with Texas Teacher Certificate Math 7‑12.
  • Attending an approved alternative certification plan in Math 7‑12 with working knowledge of Science and Social Studies.
  • Additional certification or ability to receive certification in ESL and other specializations.
  • CPR and first aid strongly desired.

COMPETENCIES

Four‑year college degree; Texas teaching certificate (secondary math specific certification); CPR and first aid (strongly desired).

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Duties involve walking, sitting, standing, indoor and outdoor activities, and some lifting.
  • Must maintain general physical/emotional health permitting effective performance of duties.
  • Regularly lift and carry 1–25 pounds.
  • Requires high mental alertness and tolerance of high stress levels.
