1:1 Support Staff – Primary Schools – Leeds

Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunities | SEN Support Role

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive 1:1 Support Staff member to work across welcoming primary schools in Leeds.

In this role, you will provide tailored, consistent support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, build confidence, and thrive both academically and emotionally in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, Speech & Language needs, SEMH)
  • Support academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development
  • Implement tailored strategies and interventions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
  • Use positive, calm and consistent behaviour management approaches
  • Encourage independence, engagement, and confidence in all classroom activities
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals where required

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school or similar setting (essential)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong relationship-building skills with children and staff
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 TA, SEN training, or equivalent experience)
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
