South Kesteven District Council has established LeisureSK to achieve strategic objectives such as:
- Identify and break down barriers to accessing our leisure facilities in South Kesteven.
- Connect communities through outreach programmes outside of traditional leisure facilities.
- Reduce social isolation and promote independent living in South Kesteven.
- Improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of residents through targeted health programmes.
- Facilitate and support the future of Council-owned leisure and cultural facilities.
Role
As an Assistant Swimming Teacher, you will be vital to delivering the Swim School and School Swimming programmes at the centre. Your responsibilities will support the wider teaching team in planning and delivering engaging, educational lessons within the Swim England framework, and you will be responsible for assisting pupils, particularly at lower stages, and in delivering crash courses as you progress towards full teaching qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Deliver an excellent quality teaching service.
- Maintain the standards of the Swim School brand in accordance with Swim School procedures.
- Organise, plan, execute and evaluate a structured programme using the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway.
- Ensure Swim School records (currently Learn2) are updated appropriately with attendance and assessment data.
- Ensure all activities are fun and promote a successful and caring image of the Swim School and company.
- Support any other swimming-related activity as deemed necessary to provide a quality development programme.
- Assist pupils from the water at lower stages and help with routine checks, housekeeping standards and customer safety, especially for class members in your charge during lessons.
- Take opportunities to update and improve technical knowledge through continuing professional development and staff training.
- Identify suitable pupils for exit routes to performance and excellence pathways.
- Ensure a high standard of customer care at all times, adopting a warm and welcoming manner that encourages communication with customers.
- Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, fully meet health & safety procedures, and maintain a safe teaching environment for pupils and other centre users/team members.
- Have full awareness of the Pool Safety Operating Procedure.
Qualifications & Development
- Support will be provided to develop towards achieving Swim England Level 1 and Level 2 Teaching Qualifications and the NRASTC rescue qualification.
- Progressing Assistant Teachers are expected to deliver crash courses with support and eventually cover existing classes.
