SEN Class Teacher (KS3)

Ref: 001492 – KS3 SEN Teacher – Samuel Laycock School, Ashton Under Lyne – Commencing September 2026 – Salary: Teachers’ Pay Scale + SEN £2,787 per annum.

Responsibilities

• Teach core subjects in a primary model setting (English, Maths, Science, PHSE, Living Skills, Careers).
• Provide specialist support in areas such as PE, Performing Arts, and Food Technology.
• Use technology to support learning and deliver innovative, differentiated lessons.
• Raise standards of attainment, monitor pupil progress, and use data to inform teaching.
• Support pupils with complex needs, fostering resilience and well‑being.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and the wider community.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to staff teamwork.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience teaching all KS3 subjects in a primary model.
• Qualified teacher with a passion for SEN and inclusive education.
• Strong assessment practice and familiarity with data‑driven progress tracking.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and innovative teaching.
• High expectations for students and a proven track record of raising attainment.
• Resilience and flexibility when working with pupils with complex needs.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
