New Directions Education is recruiting a pool of Higher Level Teaching Assistants to work within Mainstream Resource Provision settings. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for people dedicated to supporting learners to thrive both within the classroom and outdoor learning facilities.

Candidate Profile

  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed approaches and therapeutic behaviour support.
  • Trained in Team‑Teach or other behaviour intervention methods.
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification/experience.
  • Strong communication skills.

Job Specification

Working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant can be very rewarding but also demanding. The role involves working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to deliver high‑quality education for pupils with a range of needs, including medical needs, ASD, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.

  • Support the planning, delivery, and assessment of learning activities for pupils with SEN, adapting materials and strategies as needed.
  • Work alongside class teachers to deliver differentiated learning and ensure all pupils can access the curriculum.
  • Deliver small group interventions under the direction of SENCOs and phase leaders.
  • Support the development of EHCP outcomes and contribute to reviews and meetings.
  • Supervise whole classes occasionally during the short‑term absence of the class teacher.
  • Provide guidance and support to other teaching assistants across the setting.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting and assessment processes.
