Description
Coaching: Backs/Attack Coach (7 hrs per week) – 3 weekday PM sessions (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursday to be confirmed) – Training sessions @ UWE Hillside Gardens; Wednesday match days – BUCS home games @ Lockleaze plus away games. For the 5‑hour role, 2 weekday PM sessions (Mondays and Wednesdays to be confirmed) – training sessions @ UWE Hillside Gardens; Wednesday match days – BUCS home games @ Lockleaze plus away games.
Pay: £20 per hour
As the Men’s Rugby Assistant Coach, you will support the UWE Rugby Programme with the following responsibilities:
- Deliver on‑pitch sessions working with the Head Coach, including pre‑season, trials, training, BUCS fixtures and friendlies.
- Contribute to planned sessions that meet participants’ needs, progressing them appropriately with a specific focus on attacking play and backs or rugby development provision.
- Maintain appropriate records of participants’ progress.
- Support the Student Club Committee to run the club effectively.
- Work with the UWE Men’s Rugby Coaching Team to deliver an effective programme.
- Actively recruit players.
- Engage with coach education opportunities at UWE if desired.
You must attend the Coaches Induction at the start of the year (or watch the recording), read and familiarize yourself with the Coaches Handbook, and understand UWE policies and procedures, including adhering to finance timescales regarding invoicing. Please note that you must provide a like‑for‑like replacement if you are unable to attend a session.
Essential requirements:
- Hold a UKCC L2 Rugby Coaching certificate or equivalent in the specified sport; UKCC Level 1 certificate will be considered for the 5‑hour role.
- Have experience coaching sport sessions for the specified sport.
- Have £10m Public Liability and £5m Professional Indemnity Insurance (a waiver can be arranged for lower amounts in some cases).
