Title: Senior Nuclear Safety Case Professional

Salary range: £70,000 to £100,000 per annum

Location: Bristol / South-West preferable – any office considered for the right candidate.

Working pattern: Flexible hybrid (office, client sites, home)

Frazer‑Nash delivers innovative engineering solutions to our clients, including nuclear projects across the UK. We seek a Senior Nuclear Safety Case Professional to lead and grow our support to existing and new nuclear projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and undertake project work on significant nuclear safety cases and supervise staff.
  • Develop, execute strategies to tackle complex nuclear safety challenges.
  • Lead technical tasks such as safety assessment, risk assessment, hazard identification, fault schedules, design basis analysis, probabilistic analysis, safety functional requirements.
  • Conduct periodic review of safety of nuclear facilities.
  • Qualification and substantiation of systems against safety requirements.
  • Internal and external hazards assessments.
  • Provide safety case development and support for nuclear and non‑nuclear plant.
  • Author or review/verify safety‑related documents.
  • Develop and hold client relationships, win new work, coach junior colleagues.
  • Oversee and manage projects across various nuclear facilities (operational fleet, defueling, decommissioning, next‑generation reactors, SMRs, AMRs, NDA estates, defence nuclear facilities, submarine fleet).

Essential Requirements

  • 10+ years of civil or defence nuclear infrastructure experience.
  • Degree, Master’s or PhD in a relevant STEM subject.
  • Strong experience with UK regulatory regime for nuclear safety cases, safety management, and safety case documentation.
  • Proficiency in safety analysis and justification methods used in the industry.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills, proven record of leading technical teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Adaptability and autonomous operation.
  • Willingness to travel and spend time on client sites.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with multiple site licencee companies, reactor and non‑reactor plant.
  • Technical oversight, leadership, independent review, project management, commercial aspects.
  • Technical consultancy experience.
  • Chartered with a professional institution.
  • Ability to hold DV clearance.
