Job Overview

Horizon Teachers are working with Exellent SEND based in Hackney who are looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant with SEND on a daily cover basis, starting ASAP. This could lead to a long-term position within the school and possibly a permanent contract.

About the Role as a Teaching Assistant

  • Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with SEND supporting their learning and development.
  • Supporting children to remain engaged and focused during lessons.
  • Assisting the class teacher in adapting learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence and confidence in the classroom.
  • Supporting the pupil’s emotional and social development throughout the school day.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, staff and other Teaching Assistants to provide consistent support.

The School is Looking for a Teaching Assistant Who:

  • Has experience working with children in a Primary or Secondary School setting.
  • Has experience supporting children with SEND.
  • Is patient, caring and committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • Is confident supporting learning 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Has strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
