About The Role

We are looking for an Extra Care Shift Leader to be based in one of our Extra Care Services at Greenacres Court on a part‑time basis. The permanent role is 24.5 hours per week, with a rota system including early (starting at 7:30 am) and late shifts (finishing at 10:15 pm). The role also involves working every other weekend and some bank holidays.

What is Extra Care?

Extra Care Housing is for adults who have some care needs and are on an assured tenancy in a self‑contained flat in a purpose‑built or adapted scheme. Our services have been rated “Good” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in June 2022.

Responsibilities

The Shift Leader will support the team in delivering high‑quality care, greet and interact with service users, families and carers, and ensure clear, empathetic communication.

They will manage the daily care schedule, supervise a care team, respond to conflicts or demands, and proactively identify and solve problems.

Qualifications

  • Previous comprehensive experience of supervising a team in a care setting.
  • Strong communication skills; approachable and confident interacting with colleagues, other professionals, service users and carers.
  • Ability to think on their feet, cope with conflicting demands and deadlines.
  • Positive, compassionate, reliable attitudes, compatible with meeting council’s quality care objectives.

Experience is welcomed from nursing, learning disabilities and health care backgrounds.

Subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
