Chemical Technician

Bracknell | £26,000 – £32,000 | Full-time | On-site

We’re hiring for a Chemical Technician to join a leading research and development team in Bracknell, where you’ll run industry-recognised oxidation tests and support innovative lubricant and fuel projects. About the Role

In this lab-based role, you’ll be responsible for conducting a range of standardised tests used across the fuel and lubricants sector, contributing directly to R&D projects. You’ll interpret test data, maintain lab equipment, and ensure safe, clean lab practices are followed. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build technical expertise in a collaborative and well-supported environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform standard oxidation and corrosion testing, including:
    • Rust testing (ASTM D665)
    • Rotating Pressure Vessel Oxidation Test – RPVOT (ASTM D2272 / IP229)
    • Total Acid Number – TAN (ASTM D3339)
  • Carry out additional testing such as:
    • Hydraulic Stability (ASTM D2070)
    • CMA and MAN testing, as required
  • Record, analyse and report test results in line with project timelines
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Collaborate with internal teams and support customer-focused research
  • Uphold health, safety and ISO quality standards within the lab

What We’re Looking For

  • Ideally hold a degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific field
  • Experience or interest in oxidation testing, ideally within automotive, fuels or lubricant sectors (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures
  • A team player with good communication skills and a collaborative mindset

  • Salary: £26,000 – £32,000 (depending on experience)
