Leicestershire County Council, Leicestershire Adult Learning Service (LALS) is recruiting two sessional tutors for pottery and sewing. The role focuses on delivering arts and craft courses to adults aged 19 and over, supporting their physical, mental, and social wellbeing.

Work Locations: The pottery tutor will be based at Enderby Adult Learning Centre, Townsend Road, Enderby, Leics. LE19 4PG. The sewing tutor will be based at Loughborough Library, Granby Street, Loughborough, Leics. LE11 3DU.
Compensation & Hours
Salary: £28,605 – £31,029 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time) or £35.76–£38.79 per hour on a pro‑rata basis (Grade 8). Pay includes teaching, required CPD and all associated administration.
Working Hours: Pottery – 180 hours in total across the academic year. Sewing – 64 hours across the academic year. Courses are 10‑12 weeks long with 2‑hour lessons.
Contract Type: Fixed term.
Closing Date: Friday 29 May 2026.
Role Overview
The Learning for Wellbeing curriculum offers a range of arts, crafts, specialist subjects, dance and exercise courses. Tutors deliver courses that develop creative skills while supporting learners’ physical and mental health and promoting social contact. Tutors will work with adults (19+) who vary in confidence, life experience and abilities.
Tutors are required to:
- Design and plan detailed Schemes of Work at appropriate levels (beginner, beginner next steps, intermediate and independent).
- Conduct initial, formative and summative assessment, and provide feedback/feedforward.
- Maintain registers, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure resources are requested and tracked.
- Support learners with learning differences as needed.
- Deliver courses safely, with pottery tutors managing kiln operation and learner work.
- Meet basic CPD requirements (three half‑day events per academic year).
Applicants will need to be flexible, open to travel across the county, and able to adapt to variable delivery venues.
Qualifications & Experience
To Apply:
- Qualified as a tutor to a minimum AET Level 3 and willing to work towards Level 4.
- Qualified in your specialist subject (pottery or sewing) equivalent to Level 3.
- Competent and confident in using digital systems such as MS Teams, Pro Solution, SharePoint, intranet.
- A team player with confident communication skills.
- Recent experience of working with or teaching vulnerable adults aged 19+.
- Flexible with adjusted work patterns and venues.
