Permanent contract – Site Based – Bedford

Shift Work: Mornings (06:00–14:00), or Afternoons (14:00–22:00), or Days (08:00–16:30)

This is a hands‑on opportunity where you’ll take ownership of test bed operations, working closely with engineers to support high‑profile projects that push the limits of internal combustion engine technology!

Responsibilities

  • As a Senior Engine Test Technician, you’ll play a vital role in delivering complex ICE development programmes. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading engine installation, instrumentation, and test cell setup
  • Validating engine systems and support equipment for safe and accurate operation
  • Running both automated and manual test cycles, including advanced testing with engineering support
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and contributing to root cause analysis
  • Performing servicing, hardware changes, and taking ownership of test pieces
  • Collaborating with Engineers, Supervisors, and customers to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Supporting continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, and quality

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of petrol and diesel engine systems
  • Confident in diagnosing faults and working with engine support equipment
  • Background in automotive, mechanical, or testing environments
  • Basic mechanical and fabrication skills
  • Familiarity with test automation tools (e.g. AVL PUMA, Horiba STARS)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own transport
