Overview
Exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual to join the Medicine Clinical Board as part of the Outpatient Administration Team. The role requires working closely with medical and nursing staff, providing efficient front‑office administrative support in outpatient areas, and aiding patient flow through the service. Independent work, adherence to policies and procedures, excellent communication, flexibility, reliability, organisational approach, and attention to detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the provision of efficient admin and clerical services within the operational services department.
- Register / book patient appointments quickly and efficiently using departmental IT systems (SystmOne, eRecord).
- Ensure patient documents are prepared, updated and available in a timely manner.
- Provide information to patients, relatives and staff.
- Deal with telephone enquiries promptly.
- Ensure that data input is amended as necessary.
- Be flexible to meet the needs of the service.
- Provide and maintain an efficient and effective administration service to the Immunology and Allergy/Medical Day Case Unit administration team.
- Contribute to the delivery of consistently high standard of patient care as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Assist other administrative members of the team in supporting the administrative needs of the medical team.
Qualifications and Education
- Good standard of English, grammar, punctuation and spelling at GCSE or equivalent level.
Knowledge and Experience
- Previous experience working within the NHS.
- Knowledge of the eRecord System.
Skills and Abilities
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective organisational and time‑management skills.
- IT skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office packages (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- High level of accuracy, presentation of information and attention to detail.
