Job overview
University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles due to minimum salary/skill thresholds. This role supports a busy Car Parking & Security Team within the Directorate of Estates, Facilities & PFI. The post holder will support Car Parking and Security duties, including operating CCTV, managing incidents, and ensuring customer care.
Pay
Staff will receive additional payments on top of hourly pay as detailed in Additional Payments section.
Main duties of the job
Provide professional, efficient, and timely service to patients, visitors, and departments. The role involves long periods of walking (up to 20,000 steps per day), patrolling the County site, responding to parking queries, acting as the point of contact for site security, detecting and preventing crime, operating CCTV, investigating alarms, and managing security incidents, including de‑escalation and safe restraint as required.
Due to the requirement for safe physical intervention, an SIA Door Supervisor licence is required.
Additional Payments
- Unsociable hours (between 20:00 and 06:00): 41% additional per hour.
- Saturday working: 41% additional per hour.
- Sunday working: 83% additional per hour.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
- Good standard of spoken English language
- Basic computer skills
- Able to read & write English
- SIA Door supervisor licence
- Basic Life Support / First Aid Certificate
- NVQ Customer Care Level II (or similar)
- Certificate in Manual Handling
Experience
- Basic knowledge of Health and Safety
- Experience dealing with complaints
- Experience of Customer Care / working in a customer‑led environment
- Experience of safe physical intervention, restraint and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of Car parking policy and procedures
- Use of Car parking operational systems & equipment
- Security experience in a healthcare setting
Skills, ability and knowledge
- Basic understanding of public car park operations
- Basic understanding of security routines and activities
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing demands
- Understanding of security policy, law & legislation
- Ability to explain the effective Car Parking & Security Service
