Technology Technician – Art & Technology Faculty

20 hours per week (term‑time only)

Grade 4 SCP 5–9 £25,583 – £27,254 (£11,660 – £12,421, pro‑rata)

Start Date: Easter 2026

Sir John Nelthorpe School is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Technology Technician to join our supportive and creative Art & Technology Faculty. This part‑time role requires 20 hours per week, ideally spread across the week, and is particularly well‑suited to a retired technology teacher or an individual with similar experience and practical skills in a workshop or educational setting.

About the Role

  • Prepare lesson materials, resources and equipment for practical lessons in Textiles, 3D Design, CDT, Art, and Food Technology across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Stock control and other administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the faculty.
  • Assist in maintenance of wall displays.
  • Maintain storage areas in a tidy state.
  • Assist in the production of specialised tools and jigs as necessary.
  • Assist teachers with classroom set-up and demonstrations where required.
  • Maintain and organise tools, machinery and workspaces in line with health and safety standards.
  • Undertake routine maintenance of workshop equipment and ensure resources are well‑stocked and ready for use.

Requirements

  • Strong practical background, ideally in a technology‑based subject or workshop environment.
  • Understanding of the importance of supporting high‑quality practical teaching and learning.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive, organised and safety‑conscious approach to work.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude to school life.
