Catering Assistants / Kitchen Porters

Henley Regatta – Monday 29th June to Sunday 5th July 2025

£13.65 per hour

Regatta is a six‑day event set in the grounds of Phyllis Court Club, on the banks of the River Thames. We will have a number of dining venues and options during the Regatta ranging from pizza’s, BBQ and buffet to fine dining.

Role Overview

Working under the guidance of senior catering staff, the catering assistant will support the provision of catering, ensure kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards, comply with health and safety policies and assist in serving meals and stocking the staff canteen efficiently.

The Kitchen Porter role will also work under the guidance of senior catering staff and will be required to empty bins, sweep and mop floors, and ensure all equipment is clean and put away correctly.

Both roles are very hands‑on and a proactive approach is essential.

Criteria for both roles

  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • You must be available for the full 7‑day period between Monday 29th June and Sunday 5th July 2026 – early shifts starting as early as 08.00am and late shifts ending as late as midnight.
  • Full training will be given.

Duties and Responsibilities

Catering Assistant

  • Basic food preparation, e.g., washing, peeling, and helping to prepare salads and desserts.
  • Unloading and putting away deliveries.

Kitchen Porter

  • Washing up, cleaning and clearing all kitchen areas.
  • Emptying bins, sweeping and mopping floors.
  • Ensuring all equipment is clean and put away correctly.
  • Good personal hygiene and good communication skills, written and verbal.

Qualifications, Skills and Behaviours

  • Ability to lift, carry and stand on your feet for 8 to 10 hours each day.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently without direct supervision.

Uniform for both roles

Comfortable clothing, jeans or work trousers, T‑shirt, closed‑toe shoes with a good sole (no flip‑flops or sandals).
