Job Summary
Support children with special educational needs in a large Stoke on Trent SEN school that focuses on inclusion, confidence building, and pastoral support.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils across Key Stages within the classroom to access their education.
- Engage children with tasks set by the class teacher and help them reach their potential.
- Take initiative, be resilient, and drive pupils to achieve and progress.
- Work on learning activities, promote confidence, and encourage pupils to act independently.
- Provide personal care in addition to academic and pastoral support.
Qualifications & Skills
- Professional experience working with children with a disability or SEN.
- Confident, outgoing, and friendly demeanor.
- Able to hold student attention and focus with excellent communication skills.
- Experience supporting children with autism, cerebral palsy, MLD, SpLD, or other SEN barriers.
- Experience with communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, BSL, or other methods.
- Ability to promote happiness, self‑reliance, and encourage positive interactions.
