Head of AI Governance

Within this Fixed Term Contract, you will lead the development of responsible AI across Bupa. Your work will ensure AI is used ethically, transparently, and in line with our values, and will influence regulatory and ethical expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of Bupa’s Responsible AI Framework, embedding ethical principles and best practices into our AI strategy.
  • Chair the High‑Risk AI Committee, overseeing the assessment and management of high‑risk AI projects.
  • Design and implement risk management strategies for AI activities, ensuring alignment with Bupa’s broader risk frameworks.
  • Monitor and respond to regulatory developments, including GDPR, the EU AI Act, and other emerging standards.
  • Establish and regularly review ethical guidelines for AI development and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including data governance managers and AI specialists, to ensure consistent and responsible AI practices across the business.
  • Develop scalable tools, processes and methodologies to support the growth of AI capabilities while maintaining strong governance.

  • A strong understanding of AI technologies, frameworks, and the evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills – confident engaging both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and implementing governance frameworks and policies.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to influence across a complex organisation.
