This high-impact leadership role connects business goals with technical direction across a complex digital estate, defining long‑term architecture vision, guiding major investment decisions, and ensuring technology choices support secure, efficient, and resilient public services.

Responsibilities

• Translating business strategy into clear enterprise architecture roadmaps
• Shaping the future technology estate and defining target state architecture
• Leading architectural governance and assurance for major projects
• Providing technical leadership on investments, risk and technical debt
• Setting and enforcing architectural principles and standards
• Producing clear architecture views for senior leaders and decision-makers
• Working with stakeholders to align technical plans with business outcomes
• Leading, mentoring and developing a team of architects
• Supporting complex, high‑value digital transformation programmes

Qualifications

• Strong experience in enterprise architecture within large, complex organisations
• Ability to turn strategic goals into clear technical roadmaps and plans
• Experience leading architectural governance and assurance
• Strong understanding of secure, scalable and resilient digital estates
• Experience managing technical risk and technical debt
• Ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to senior stakeholders
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills
• A strategic mindset with the ability to balance speed, cost and quality
