We will fully support disabled candidates and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
Applications are welcome for a 6 month fixed term post covering a trainee maternity leave vacancy, based in the Lauriston Building. The role is a full (40 hours per week) post, jointly funded by the Dermatology Service and the Medical Education Directorate, designed for a doctor looking to gain further experience and potentially a career in dermatology.
The successful candidate will spend 50% of their time as a teaching fellow in dermatology and 50% delivering clinical activity as a dermatology LAS. They will also be encouraged to undertake audit and research projects.
You will work within the dermatology team providing comprehensive care to adults and children in predominantly outpatient but also some inpatient settings. You will join a team of around 5 dermatology resident doctors in a supportive and supervised environment. In time, you will be expected to participate in the registrar on-call rota which involves evenings and weekends.
In addition to clinical work, the role will include 50% dedicated sessions in Medical Education, working within a supportive team led by Dr Nicola Salmon, Consultant Dermatologist and Undergraduate Module Lead. You will take a role in the development and implementation of medical teaching for medical students, including small group tutorials and clinical teaching sessions. You will also develop resources to improve the student experience and increase capacity in the service, and collaborate on projects that impact the delivery and development of safe, effective, and person-centred clinical care.
