Teaching Assistants – Level 2 & 3 – Haughton School

Position: Teaching Assistant (Level 2 & 3)

Location: Haughton School, Haughton main site (Madeley, Telford) and specialist hubs

Hours: Permanent – 32.5 hours per week, Term Time + 5 PD Days

Pay scale: Level 2: £13.45 per hour. Level 3: £13.45 – £13.47 per hour

Start Date: ASAP (subject to Safer Recruitment checks)

About the School

Haughton School is a Primary Special School for children with moderate to severe learning difficulties and complex needs. Children may also have communication & interaction difficulties, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, sensory and physical/medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers and students within specialist classrooms.
• Assist with inclusive practices in mainstream settings where appropriate.
• Deliver individualised support to enable students to achieve their full potential.
• Contribute to a flexible, positive learning environment, demonstrating resilience, reliability, and a sense of humour.

Qualifications & Experience

• Sound understanding of specialist approaches for students with communication and interaction difficulties, particularly Autism.
• Demonstrable experience and knowledge in supporting these students in an educational setting.
• Ability to work under pressure, maintain punctuality, and adapt to dynamic classroom demands.
• Commitment to safe practice: completion of a criminal record self‑disclosure form and DBS (CRB) clearance.

• Exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
• Compliance with the Safeguarding Policy promoting child welfare.
