An opportunity has arisen in our London Rating team for an experienced and highly motivated individual to become part of our successful and expanding office. This role offers excellent career development prospects, working with a strong list of prestigious clients and instructions.

Joining our Rating team, you will play a key role in assisting clients to manage and reduce their business rates liabilities through accurate analysis and sound professional advice.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of business rates assessments, including reviews, appeals and on-going client instruction
  • Analyse rental evidence and comparable data to assess rateable values and identify opportunities for reduction
  • Prepare, submit and progress Check, Challenge, Appeal (CCA) cases, ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies and deadlines
  • Identify and advise on applicable reliefs (historic and current)
  • Liaise and negotiate with the Valuation Office Agency and local authorities to achieve timely appeal outcomes
  • Provide clear and accurate advice to clients on Business Rates liabilities, reliefs and appeal strategies. Prepare reports, submissions and recommendations for clients and senior team members.
  • Maintain accurate records of property and case data, ensuring internal systems are kept up to date and in line with internal audit requirements
  • Undertake property inspections where required, to verify factual survey data (in accordance with the MRICS Code of Measuring Practice)
  • Keep up to date with relevant Rating legislation, guidance and case law developments (CPD)
  • Assist all team members on complex cases and contribute to wider team objectives
  • Support new business initiatives, including preparing proposals, attending client meetings and building on a strong network of clients

Qualifications / The ideal candidate will have

  • Degree in Real Estate, Property Management, Surveying or related discipline
  • Qualified member of RICS (MRICS/AssocRICS)
  • Previous experience in business rates
  • Technical knowledge of business rates process and valuation principles
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively managing client and stakeholder relationships
