Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £14.18 an hour; this increases to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with the option to work fewer hours to a minimum of 12. Availability windows are the times we need you to be available; we schedule your contracted hours within these windows and provide 3 weeks’ notice of shifts. We support flexibility if your availability closely matches our advertised times.
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco out on the road, you deliver groceries to customers’ homes daily. This role involves driving, customer interaction, and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Ensure van and trays are clean, tidy and organised.
- Maintain clean surroundings, picking up litter as seen.
- Participate in tray wash process.
- Load van as required and check van for roadworthiness.
- Communicate with customers about order changes, substitutions, refunds, and time slots.
- Handle products and deliveries responsibly.
- Call customers before arrival if early.
- Call store/centre if running 30 minutes or more late.
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit.
- Provide warm, welcoming interactions with customers and colleagues.
- Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
- Share ideas with manager and colleagues on improvements.
Qualifications
- Valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic) with at least 12 months’ experience and no more than 3 penalty points.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness to meet work demands.
Benefits
- Hourly rates starting at £14.18; £15.45 for stores inside the M25.
- Guaranteed minimum 12–16 hours per week (minimum 12 hours; 16 guaranteed).
Applicants must be at least 18 years old; if the role requires working before 6:15 am or after 9:45 pm, over 18 is required. Other age restrictions apply for specific areas such as warehouse or counter duties.
