We are now looking for an Internal Sales Assistant to join our team, supporting and driving timber sales across the Manchester area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with customers, building relationships, and developing their commercial skills in a supportive environment.
About the Role
As an Internal Sales Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our customers and helping the branch achieve its sales goals. You don’t need to be a timber expert already – we’re committed to supporting your learning and development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting trade customers by phone and email, answering queries and offering helpful, knowledgeable service
- Identifying customer needs and recommending suitable timber products and solutions
- Proactively following up enquiries and quotations to convert opportunities into sales
- Working towards agreed sales targets and KPIs, with support from the wider team
- Processing orders, checking stock availability, and maintaining accurate customer records using our internal systems
- Handling transactions efficiently and professionally
- Continuing to develop product knowledge, including learning about timber ranges, promotions, and market trends
- Supporting general branch and office activities to ensure a positive and organised working environment
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from people with a variety of backgrounds. You may have experience in internal sales, customer service, retail, or a related role – or be looking to grow into a sales career.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Experience in a customer‑facing or internal sales role
- Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused approach
- Motivation to work towards targets and contribute to team success
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic IT skills and confidence using computer systems (training will be provided)
- An interest in timber or the construction supply sector (full training provided)
What We Can Offer You
- Comprehensive in‑house training and ongoing development opportunities
- Competitive rate of pay within a respected and growing business
- 30 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
- Staff discounts
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Contributory pension scheme
- Access to our medical plan provided by Westfield Health
- Free on‑site parking
- Supportive team environment with opportunities to progress
