Pay and Hours

Rate of pay starts at £14.18 per hour, rising to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.

Minimum guaranteed hours of 16 per week; flexible to 12 hours per week if preferred.

Job Overview

As a Customer Delivery Driver at Tesco, you are the face on the road delivering to customers’ homes. The role involves driving, handling deliveries, maintaining the van, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the van and trays are clean and organized.
• Keep the back yard tidy and pick up litter.
• Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
• Load the van as required and check for roadworthiness.
• Communicate changes to customers, offer refunds for unsatisfactory items.
• Treat products/deliveries with care, as if they were your own.
• Explain that no additional charges will be applied to customer substitutions.
• Deliver during the customer’s time slot.
• Call the customer before arrival if early.
• Call the store/centre if running 30 or more minutes late.
• Build relationships with colleagues to support team spirit.
• Be warm and welcoming, take time to understand the customer and say “Thank you.”
• Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
• Bring energy and drive to deliver beyond expectations.
• Share improvement ideas with the Manager and colleagues.

Qualifications

• A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic) held for at least 12 months, with no more than 3 penalty points.
