About the Role
The consultant in paediatric otolaryngology will play a key role in managing complex ENT conditions in neonates and children, including hearing loss cases identified through neonatal screening programmes. Additionally, the role involves participation in cleft palate services, service development for tertiary paediatric ENT care, and contribution to teaching and research activities within the department. The position also includes active involvement in departmental development, teaching responsibilities for medical students at the University of East Anglia, and participation in on‑call rota duties.
Job Duties
- Manage and treat neonates and children with paediatric ENT conditions.
- Investigate and manage permanent sensorineural hearing loss identified through neonatal screening.
- Participate in cleft palate multidisciplinary team services.
- Provide tertiary‑level paediatric otolaryngology care for complex cases.
- Contribute to service development and improvement within paediatric ENT services.
- Participate in teaching undergraduate medical students at the University of East Anglia.
- Engage in clinical research, audit, and academic activities.
- Participate in weekday and weekend on‑call rotas.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including registrars, trainees, and allied health professionals.
- Maintain clinical governance standards and ensure high‑quality patient care delivery.
Job Requirements
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise required.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT, CESR, or equivalent required.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification required.
- FRCS (ORL-HNS) or equivalent required.
- Subspecialty training or fellowship in paediatric otolaryngology desirable.
- Strong experience in ENT practice with paediatric focus required.
- Evidence of teaching and academic involvement required.
- Experience in research, audit, and service development preferred.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams required.
- Strong communication and presentation skills required.
- Willingness to participate in on‑call rota required.
