Join Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust as a Student Nursing Associate Apprentice. You will develop into a NMC registered Nursing Associate through a 2‑year foundation degree programme. The course is fully funded.
We are offering four posts across LSCFT mental health inpatient services. Please indicate your location preference in support information.
- 2 posts – Woodview Mental Health Inpatient Wards, Whalley
- 2 posts – Chorley and South Ribble Hospital Mental Health Inpatient Units
Main duties
• Travel across the Trust footprint, up to 90 minutes each way for placements and shifts.
• Demonstrate knowledge of mental health care and act effectively as a Nursing Associate, communicating with patients, families, carers and team members.
• Work hard and study in your own time, acquiring the fundamentals of exceptional care and learning clinical skills required for registration.
Eligibility & qualifications
- Maths and English – GCSE Maths and English grade C or 4 and above (or equivalent) or Level 2 functional skills/key skills.
- 48 UCAS points.
- Minimum 12 months health‑care experience.
Applicants must meet the residency requirements: a full‑time ordinary resident in the UK for 3 consecutive years prior to the start date, and reside and work in the UK during the course.
Non‑UK nationals must satisfy apprenticeship funding eligibility and settlement requirements.
Person specification
- GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English.
- Commitment to complete the Foundation Degree programme.
- Strong team working, communication and time‑management skills.
- Previous health‑care experience (minimum 12 months).
- Positive, courteous and respectful attitude.
Benefits
Paid Band 3 salary: £25,760 to £27,476 per annum; 37.5 hours per week; permanent Band 4 Nursing Associate role upon successful completion.

The post requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
