Job Summary

We are looking to recruit a full‑time Medical Receptionist at Strathmore Medical Practice, Wrexham. The role is Monday to Friday, 08:00‑18:30.

Key Responsibilities

  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and on the telephone.
  • Be friendly, confident, presentable, discreet, tactful, patient, sympathetic and courteous but firm.
  • Have good organisational skills and be able to prioritise workload; cope in a busy environment.
  • Be flexible and adaptable, use initiative, and work well alone and in a team.
  • Respond to emails and tasks from GP’s.
  • Provide appointments to patients and deal with any queries.
  • Use a computer; training will be given.
  • Serve patients by greeting, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.
  • Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
  • Comfort patients by anticipating anxieties, answering questions and maintaining the reception area.
  • Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Protect patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal and financial information.
  • Maintain operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Provide cover for absent colleagues when required.
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures as set out by the practice.
  • Input patient data onto the system, e.g., change of address.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively to share information fairly.

Essential Requirements

  • Good communicator with the ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Flexibility and strong time‑management skills.
  • Team player with a proactive approach.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a GP practice (training will be provided if none).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Awareness of GDPR.

Benefits & Working Conditions

  • Salary: £24,850 per year based on full‑time hours, 37.5 hours per week.
