Key Responsibilities
- Support and prompt with personal care: toileting, showering/bathing, assistance with bed activities, dressing.
- Assist with cooking, meal preparation and eating.
- Support or prompt the individual to take medication.
- Help with household chores, general homemaking, gardening, managing paperwork & correspondence.
- Arrange and accompany the individual to appointments, school, work, social or sporting activities.
- Support food shopping and pet care.
- Transfer and mobility assistance, including driving the employer’s manual Motability vehicle.
- Assist with wound care and other health‑related needs.
- Promote and encourage friendships, independence and socialisation.
- Develop a trusting one‑to‑one working relationship.
Qualifications & Skills
- Aged 18 or over and able to administer medication.
- Previous caring experience essential.
- Honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
- Patient, supportive, empathetic and non‑judgemental.
- Good listening skills and ability to provide emotional support.
- Self‑motivated, adaptable, able to work flexibly and on own initiative.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Live‑lively personality.
- Willingness to report accidents and hazards immediately.
- Proficiency with confidentiality and respecting privacy; prohibited use of social media in relation to the role.
- Strong problem‑solving and de‑escalation skills to manage intense or unpredictable behaviour.
- Ability to remain calm, grounded and maintain healthy boundaries.
- Experience with complex care, advocacy and coordination for individuals with disabilities, neurodivergence, trauma or chronic health conditions is highly desirable.
Training & Qualifications
- Must possess relevant qualifications in Moving and Handling and First Aid.
- Training in epilepsy and other health needs will be provided by the employer.
About the Employer
A 32‑year‑old disabled man living in Marks Tey who uses a wheelchair and is largely housebound. He has fibromyalgia, hypermobility spectrum disorder, chronic venous insufficiency, hidradenitis suppurativa, autism, ADHD, complex PTSD, and other invisible conditions. His support needs fluctuate and may become intensive and fast‑changing.

Compensation & Contract
Hourly Rate: £20 per hour, flat rate, including bank holidays, weekends, and potential overnight provision.
Contract Type: Casual.

Additional Information
Transfer and mobility support, driving the employer’s manual Motability vehicle, wound care, and health‑related needs are part of the role. The right person will understand autism, ADHD, trauma, and emotional dysregulation. They will remain calm under pressure, not take blunt communication personally, and de‑escalate calmly.
