We are looking to recruit a full‑time Medical Receptionist. Monday to Friday between the hours of 08.00am – 18.30pm.
The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order).
Main duties of the job
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and over the telephone.
- Friendly, confident, and presentable.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
- Capable of coping in a busy environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to use initiative.
- Discreet, tactful, patient, and sympathetic.
- Courteous but firm, able to work well alone and in a team.
- Respond to emails and tasks from GPs.
- Provide appointments to patients and deal with queries.
- Use a computer – training will be given.
Job responsibilities
Strathmore is an extremely busy GP Practice with over 14,000 patients and we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Reception Team. To support the Practice between 8:00 – 18:30pm. Flexibility is necessary as start times may change depending on business needs.
- Serve patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.
- Welcome patients and visitors in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
- Comfort patients by anticipating anxieties, answering questions, and maintaining the reception area.
- Respond to emergencies and help patients in distress.
- Protect patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
- Maintain operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Provide flexible cover for absent colleagues.
- Adhere to health & safety procedures as set out by the practice.
- Use a courteous and efficient manner at all times.
- Input patient data onto the system (e.g. change of address).
- Work collaboratively and share responsibilities fairly.
- Other duties as specified by the Partners, Practice Manager, Deputy Practice Manager and Reception Supervisors.

- Experience working in a GP Practice – full training will be provided if none.
Knowledge and Skills

Qualifications
- Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent.
- Medical terminology desired – full training will be given.
£24,850 a year based on full‑time hours, 37.5 hours per week.
