The Opportunity
Calm and professional, Senior Funeral Operatives play a vital role in our service and are often the first members of the team to meet our families. A good Senior Funeral Service Operative will provide reassurance to families that we will take good care of their loved ones while preparing them for their final journey.
As the logistical lead within our team, you will take responsibility for coordinating funeral service logistics, including vehicle scheduling, staff deployment, and ceremonial planning. You will work closely with Funeral Directors to ensure every aspect of each service is meticulously organised and delivered with professionalism and dignity.
In addition to bringing loved ones into our care, Senior Funeral Service Operatives play an active role behind the scenes, working in the mortuary, fitting coffins, dressing the deceased, and participating in funeral services, pallbearing, and ensuring everything goes smoothly.

Typical Duties
- Manage mortuary area & mortuary checks, including checking on the care of our deceased.
- Ensure all vehicles leave the premises in the best condition, complete vehicle checks and organise repairs with the Diary Manager.
- Help the Funeral Director organise the team in line with garage orders and ensure standards are achieved.
- Manage coffin & other orders, assist with the running of the Hub / Stock control.
- Attend trainer sessions on an ongoing basis, buddy up new starters in their induction periods, and support acquisitions.
- Drive company vehicles – a full driving licence is required.
- Participate in the out of hours and on-call rota, earning additional payments.

About You
Strong experience in diary coordination or operational logistics is essential, as this role requires excellent attention to detail, confident communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under time-sensitive conditions.
Full Manual UK Driving Licence is required.
