British Wool represents 30,000 members across the UK, collecting, grading and marketing wool on their behalf. We are committed to supporting farmers and ensuring their wool reaches markets effectively and efficiently.
We are now looking to recruit a Temporary Warehouse Operative with the role potentially becoming a permanent position; the role is to provide assistance to the warehouse processes during our peak season. The successful applicants will be working within a fast‑paced warehouse environment and the duties of the role can be physically arduous.
Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:30pm and Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm
The Role
British Wool is a farmer run organisation established in 1950 to operate a central marketing system for fleece wool. We collect the most complex wool clip in the world from over 30,000 farms throughout the UK and prepare it for sale at electronic auction.
Duration of Work: Initially 3 to 4 months, commencing June 2026, with the potential of the role becoming permanent.
Working Hours: Zero Hour Contract – up to 39 hours per week, working hours are between 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am to 3:30pm Friday. No weekend working.
What you’ll do
- Unloading of wool sheets from HGVs
- Weighing of sheets/skeps using handheld scanner to record data upon receipt into the warehouse
- Prepare wool sheets to be transported to grading depots
- Transfer wool to various processes within the warehouse via skeps
What you’ll bring
