The General Intensive Care unit is looking for a motivated and positive person to join our existing Ward Clerk team. The unit is dynamic, highly innovative and staffed with advanced nursing and medical protocols. We seek someone who can help us continue to provide the very best possible care in a friendly, supportive manner that fosters teamwork and ongoing development.

Main duties
The Ward Clerk team supports the unit and is integral to the smooth running and positive experiences of our staff, patients and visitors. Key responsibilities include:
- Reception and front‑desk duties for patients, visitors and staff.
- Maintaining accurate records, filing and clerical work.
- Assisting with patient registration and discharge processes.
- Providing administrative support to clinical teams.
- Managing correspondence and communications.
- Ensuring compliance with infection control and safety procedures.
- Contributing to a positive team culture and continuous improvement initiatives.
Knowledge and Experience
- Previous reception or customer‑facing experience in a healthcare or public setting.
- Clerical/administrative experience including filing and reception.
- Previous NHS experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
- Able to communicate clearly and act quickly in an emergency.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office packages.
- Tidy and methodical working practice.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy team, adjust to change and motivate others.
- Ability to work independently as part of a team.
- Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers.
Qualifications and Training
- Educated to GCSE grade C or above in English Language and Maths.
