Blue Arrow is currently recruiting for Waste Operatives to join a busy and essential waste and recycling team based in the SG1 area. These are ongoing temporary opportunities with strong potential to become permanent for the right candidates.
The Role
As a Waste Operative, you will play a key role in delivering a front line service, collecting waste and recycling from residential and commercial properties. This is a hands‑on, physically active role working outdoors as part of a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Collecting household and commercial waste and recycling materials safely and efficiently
- Returning bins and containers to their correct locations after collection
- Removing bulky waste items from residential properties when required
- Clearing spillages and ensuring streets and public areas remain clean and tidy
- Supporting safe disposal of waste at designated sites
- Operating tools and equipment in line with health & safety guidelines
- Working closely with drivers and other team members to complete daily routes
- Delivering a high standard of customer service to the public
What We’re Looking For
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Good awareness of health & safety practices
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Physically fit and able to carry out demanding, manual work
- Reliable and flexible approach to work
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
Desirable
- Previous experience within waste, recycling, or a similar environment
- Knowledge of waste collection practices or equipment
