The role of a Laundry Assistant at Akari Care involves ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all laundry processes within the care home. This includes providing personalized attention to residents’ laundry needs, performing minor repairs, and maintaining a clean and well‑organized laundry environment.
Main duties of the job
As a Laundry Assistant, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day laundry operations, including washing, drying, and folding residents’ personal items. You will work closely with the Housekeeper and the wider domestic team to ensure the laundry service meets the high standards expected. Additionally, you will be mindful of individual religious and cultural backgrounds, and ensure that all residents receive a personalised service.
Job responsibilities
Working in collaboration and unison with the Housekeeper and the wider domestic team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient running of all laundry processes in the home. This will include giving your undivided attention and care to all items for laundering, performing minor repairs to the residents’ personal items of clothing while being respectful and supportive of individual and differing needs. You will continually and compassionately assess all aspects of residents’ laundry requirements and provide dedicated and individualised attention when required. Methodically ensure that the laundry room is permanently clean and tidy, and that all equipment is clean and well maintained, while imparting your knowledge to all other colleagues to ensure they adhere to the same high standards.
Be mindful of and conscious to individual religious and cultural backgrounds to ensure residents feel they have a personalised service.
Hours: 20 hours per week.

Qualifications
- Experience in a similar environment, laundry experience, and a caring nature with the ability to provide a personalised approach are required for this role.
