Mencap is seeking passionate FEMALE SUPPORT WORKERS to join our team in Belper. The role involves working with individuals with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and communication difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care, medication management, finances, and daily activities.
• Provide emotional and physical support to help individuals achieve their goals and aspirations.
• Engage in suitable activities such as sightseeing and day trips.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment, adhering to care plans.
• Work flexible shifts from 07:00-23:00, including sleep‑ins, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications and Skills

• Relationship building – essential for gaining trust.
• Patience and understanding – required for navigating challenging situations.
• Conflict‑resolution techniques – necessary for managing conflicts constructively.
• Ideally holding a Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or willing to work towards one.
• A genuine passion for supporting others.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build meaningful relationships.
• Positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
• Enjoy interactivity with supported persons; involves activities such as sightseeing, day trips etc.
• Driving licence preferred but not essential.

Contract & Pay

Full time: 37.5 hours per week. Shift range 07:00‑23:00. Sleep‑ins required and paid at £64.20 per occurrence. Flexibility required to cover weekends on a rota basis.

Hourly rate: £12.85. Annual salary: £26,228 per annum pro‑rata.

All roles subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
