What are we looking for?
- Professional qualification or substantial experience in safeguarding (social work, education, charity sector, health, police, etc.)
- Knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation, guidance, and frameworks (e.g. Working Together, Keeping Children Safe in Education, Care Act)
- Experience delivering safeguarding training or policy development
- Calm, professional, and capable of handling sensitive information
- Commitment to child‑centred, trauma‑informed, and rights‑based approaches
- Excellent judgment and ability to balance support with accountability
Hybrid
What will you be doing?
- Review and advise on safeguarding policies, procedures, and risk assessments
- Provide guidance on safeguarding concerns, disclosures, or complex cases (in advisory capacity, not case management)
- Deliver safeguarding training to staff, volunteers, and trustees
- Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) with policy updates, audits, and continuous improvement
- Advise on safer recruitment practices and volunteer vetting procedures
- Help develop resources and guidance for volunteers on recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns
- Contribute to organisational safeguarding culture and continuous learning
- Stay up to date with legislation, guidance, and best practice
