Volunteer Van Driver – Available 10 July 2025 to 30 October 2026
Our Volunteer Van Drivers keep our shops stocked with donations, help them manage their day‑to‑day needs, and are an important part of our public‑facing volunteering team. If you love driving, the open road, and rising to a challenge, this role is for you.
You will be linked to one of our four charity shops (Acomb, York, Malton, Selby) and primarily based at the Animal Home where the van is kept. You will travel across North Yorkshire, visiting the shops and occasionally visiting members of the public.
Responsibilities:
- Collect donations from the Animal Home and deliver them to the shops
- Move stock between shops as needed
- Collect items from members of the public and visit their homes
- Perform tip runs for the shops as and when required
- Ensure compliance with RSPCA rules and regulations
- Carry out a small amount of administrative work, such as completing mileage returns
- Undertake appropriate training as directed by the branch team
- Transport animals and/or materials/stock/equipment on behalf of the branch (when required)
Hours: A minimum of 4 hours per week is required. You can volunteer for more hours if you wish. We encourage a commitment of six months to help you build confidence and gain experience.
Qualifications:
- Valid driving licence (subject to checks before you start)
- Manual handling training (and animal handling training if required)
- Age 18 or over
