Established in 2013, BMS Scaffolding Limited is a scaffolding contractor operating from our head depot and offices based in Rainham, Essex. Our new Ipswich depot is now fully operational and greatly improves our service to the Suffolk and East Anglia regions.

Role OverviewTo be responsible for organising material, handling stock and other assets in a manner which ensures operational efficiency and working as part of a scaffolding gang. Maintain clear, safe working areas. Clear away any waste and debris, safely stack and secure materials. Ensure full compliance with all company procedures and policies, health and safety procedures, and regulatory requirements as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure correct work permits are available prior to carrying out tasks.
  • Deliver scaffolding equipment to the workforce.
  • Ensure safe stacking and storage of equipment in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Keep equipment in good condition, segregating repairable and scrap equipment.
  • Ensure the safe loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Report any safety concerns with regards to unsafe working practices, equipment or conditions.
  • Be constantly vigilant and fully aware of security protocols.

Requirements

  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to listen and follow instructions.
  • Reliable and willing to learn.

Training and progression: BMS does not have traditional apprenticeships. However, individuals wishing to progress a career in the scaffolding industry begin their journey by enrolling in a COTS training course (CISRS Operative Training Scheme), developing their skills through both theoretical and practical training, and attending a final assessment to achieve a Level 2 National Vocational Qualification before applying for their Scaffolding Card (Blue Card).
