About The Innocence Project London (IPL)

The IPL, based at the University of Greenwich, London is one of four organizations in England and Wales that are members of the global Innocence Network. Established in 2010 and now a registered charity, the IPL works to deconstruct claims of innocence from convicted individuals who are maintaining their innocence and have exhausted the criminal appeals process. Students collaborate with practicing lawyers and academics to review evidence, develop legal arguments, and submit applications to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) – the independent body that can refer cases back to the Court of Appeal if new evidence or legal arguments emerge. The IPL’s work is at the heart of criminal justice reform and offers a rare chance to contribute to overturning miscarriages of justice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and manage the post to the IPL.
  • Draft and format professional correspondence (letters, emails, reports).
  • Organise and maintain accurate records and case documentation.

It’s a fantastic way to gain experience in a legal‑administrative setting while contributing to a cause that truly matters.
