Summary of vacancy

Contract type: Fixed term. Duration: 6 months. Working pattern: Full time. Location: Manchester, Chichester Street. Hours per week: 38.5. Salary: £29,764.65.

About The Role

Location: Greater Manchester, Chichester Street HWRC. This role requires travel between site locations throughout Greater Manchester; your own transport will be needed.

  • Salary £29,764.65 per annum / £14.82 per hour.
  • Working a 4 On 4 Off shift pattern.
  • Start/finish times: 10.5 hours per shift in Winter (07:45‑18:15) and 12.5 hours per shift in Summer (07:45‑20:15).
  • Working 38.5 hours per week (pro rata) – Monday to Sunday.
  • Full PPE provided.

What will I be doing?

  • Providing excellent customer service, advising and assisting members of the public on how to use the site to maximise recovery of materials.
  • Operating mobile plant.
  • Maintaining accurate records for the removal of materials from the site.
  • Controlling the exchange of containers by booking loads with the relevant person, ensuring the site always has space to segregate and store material correctly.
  • Maintaining a tidy site within their areas of responsibility.
  • Ensuring SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of health, safety and welfare of its employees and other affected persons.
  • Co‑operating with SUEZ and other employees to comply with the site permit, all applicable legislation, and SUEZ policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties reasonably requested within the scope of the job role.

What are the requirements?

  • Enthusiastic team player, good level of customer service, ability to work in a team.
  • Prior mobile plant use desirable; full training will be provided.
  • Flexible approach to work; expected to cover holiday and sick days if required.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Potential to gain qualifications including IOSH health.
