Branch Trainee
MKM is the leading independent builders’ merchant in the UK. This role provides a rare opportunity to learn the principles of all departments within a successful builder’s merchant through coaching and mentorship. You will be guided to provide product and service advice to increase sales and margin in line with branch objectives, promote MKM as the merchant of choice in your area, and build a loyal customer base to drive sales opportunities. You will also work in the warehouse and yard to gain an all‑round perspective of working in a builder’s merchant from the ground up.

Roles And Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Branch Director/Business Development Manager on all new accounts to introduce the business and arrange an appointment for the Branch.
- Support the branch in generating new customers.
- Provide friendly, accurate and efficient customer service both via the telephone and face to face.
- Identify and approach customers in need of help and advice.
- Check product availability and offer alternatives where necessary.
- Become a trusted business partner to your customers.
- Help to identify issues that could lead to customer complaints or loss of business and proactively resolve these.
- Ensure customer details are accurate and recorded correctly.
- Other duties as reasonably required as part of the role.
- Work a 40-hour week.
