Overview

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant / Commis Chef looking to build a long-term career within a professional kitchen environment.

Working as a Kitchen Assistant / Commis Chef you will support senior chefs with food preparation, cooking, and service delivery, ensuring high standards of food hygiene, presentation, and kitchen operations are consistently maintained.

As a Kitchen Assistant / Commis Chef you will gain exposure to multiple kitchen sections, assist with service across breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen.

Duties

  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Assist with preparing, cooking and presenting meals to a high standard
  • Service Delivery: Support timely and professional service across all meal periods
  • Multi-Service Support: Assist with breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service and events
  • Buffet Preparation: Help prepare and present buffet displays
  • Kitchen Operations: Support the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen
  • Stock and Waste Control: Assist with stock management and minimise food waste
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure kitchen equipment is clean, safe and in good working order
  • Cleaning Duties: Carry out routine cleaning tasks in line with hygiene standards
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Follow food hygiene, food safety and health and safety regulations
  • Training and Development: Participate in training and identify personal development opportunities

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, catering or hospitality environment
  • Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations
  • Understanding of food hygiene regulations and health and safety standards
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to learning
  • Professional standards of appearance, hygiene and timekeeping
  • Flexibility to work shifts as required to support service delivery
  • Awareness of fire safety procedures and emergency protocols
  • Willingness to undertake training and develop new skills
