Library Assistant x2 Part‑time

(18.5 hours per week)

Grade 4SCP 16 – 22 (£29,731 – £35,225 pro rata)

We are seeking friendly, enthusiastic, and customer-focused individuals to join our library team. This is an exciting opportunity to help support a welcoming community space that promotes reading, learning, creativity, and inclusion for people of all ages. As a Library Assistant, you must be able to deliver excellent customer service, support visitors with enquiries and library services, and assist in the delivery of a wide range of activities, and community events.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  1. 3 GCSE’s, including English, Grade C or above or equivalent
  2. Sufficient library or customer service experience
  3. Excellent communication skills. Ability to deal with the public in a positive, friendly and courteous manner
  4. Ability to carry out clerical duties effectively and accurately including handling and reconciling small sums of money
  5. Ability to deliver excellent levels of customer service at all times and deal with complaints in a positive and constructive manner
  6. Ability to use computers in carrying out library related duties
  7. Highly self‑motivated, proactive with a ’can‑do’ attitude. Ability to work with minimal supervision
  8. A commitment to team working and a flexible approach to working patterns which includes Saturday working

Desirable

  1. Knowledge of the operations and functions of a local authority
  2. Political sensitivity
