Role Overview

Our team of 12 Support Workers / Receptionists provides a fantastic service to our patients and radiographers from 07:30am to 8:00pm, five days per week. We are looking to add a couple of staff to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care and support to patients, including personal care, toileting assistance, manual handling, escorting patients around the department, answering queries, and liaising with ambulance services.
  • Act as a receptionist: meet and greet patients, book appointments (including clinics), and guide them around the department if needed.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the department and waiting areas by supporting staff as required.
  • Perform lifting and support of patients, navigate a large radiotherapy department covering two floors, and handle medical equipment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Empathetic, compassionate, and caring, with an adaptable approach to prioritising an ever‑changing workload.
  • Computer literate with daily use of Trust IT systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a willingness to actively support the wider team.
  • Previous experience in a care capacity; reception experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Commit to full‑time (7.5 hours) hours per day, covering shifts between 7:30am and 8pm, with flexibility on the number of days per week.

About the Service

The Radiotherapy service at QEHB has approximately 120 staff, providing about 4,500 new patients per year with world‑class radiotherapy treatments. The service is of the highest calibre and is one of the leading departments in the NHS.
